The distinctive format of a radio play was developed in the 1930s.  It serves to clearly convey a clear understanding of how the author intends on the use of sound and music

Paper Size:  8½ x 14" is standard, however, 8½ x 11" is acceptable (keep in mind that one 14" page of dialogue is roughly equivalent to 1 minute of air time while an 11" page is equal to about 45 seconds).

Title page should include the name, address, phone number & e-mail address of the author.

Include a cast list.

Number each page at the top and center it.

Number each scene and underline it.

Font:  12 point Courier

Spaceing:
Lines - double spaced
Sound & Music Cues - triple spaced
Paragraphs - triple spaced

Capitalized and number all cues, including sound effects.  Cue numbers start at #1 on each page.

Indent for notes to producer for pronunciation, physical action, and position of characters (blocking).
